Bald Head Island Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that has cared for the barrier-island ecosystems of Bald Head, Middle, and Bluff Islands since 1983.

BHIC’s mission is simple and lasting: to discover, learn, conserve, and preserve. Its scientists and educators work year-round to protect nesting sea turtles, study island habitats, and promote barrier island sustainability through research and hands-on environmental education.
